Managing Teams (Updating Team Details, Creating and Deleting Teams)

Occasionally you may need to edit your existing team’s details, create new teams, or delete extraneous/duplicate teams that you previously created. These are all things that can be completed in the Ontario Soccer Govern module.


Updating Team Details

For teams that you’ve previously created (either by import or manually created), you can update details for them so long as they have not yet submitted to your district for approval.


To make changes to team details:

  1. Click the Teams menu item in the Govern Navigation menu on the left.
  2. Here you’ll see a list of all your teams in the season. If you synced your team from PowerUp, included the “Team Name” in your import file, or manually created the team previously, you’ll see it listed here. Click the team name to open the Team Roster page.
  3. Click the Edit Team button.
  4. A slideout will appear on the right of the page. Make your changes as needed.
  5. When ready, click the Save Changes button in the lower right corner.


The changes will be made, and the action logged on the team Activities.



Creating a Team

You completed your import of your players and staff, but forgot to include the team name. No worries! You can manually create a team in the Ontario Soccer Govern module that you can then add imported players and team staff to.


To create a team:

  1. Click the Teams menu item in the Govern Navigation menu on the left.
     

  2. Click the Create Team button on the right side of the page.

  3. Enter the team information and when ready click Create Team button at the bottom of the page.


The team will be created and the page will refresh, bringing you back to the Teams page where you can access your newly created team.




Deleting a Team

You mistakenly added an extraneous team that you no longer need. No worries! Teams that haven’t been approved by the District and have no players or team staff assigned to them can be deleted.


To delete a team:

  1. Click the Teams menu item in the Govern Navigation menu on the left.
     
  2. Here you’ll see a list of all your teams in the season. Click the team name to open the Team Roster page.
  3. If the team is eligible to be deleted, the red Delete Team button on the right side of the page will be available to click. Click it to delete the team.


The Team will be deleted and you’ll be presented with a confirmation message, as well as a link to the return to the Teams page.
